Right before the month of July is out, the Bootie Top 10 gets taken over once again by another guest curator – Eli Star!

In the mid ’90s, Eli was the resident DJ of the popular Magic Wednesdays in Los Angeles, hosting many of the big-name electronica DJs of the day, such as Chemical Brothers, Paul Oakenfold, and many more. He retired from active DJing in the ’00s to pursue a career in tech, but he never stopped collecting mashups.

“It’s the sense of surprise you get, when hearing familiar music in a completely new musical bed that fascinates me,” he remarks, adding, “Mashups, true to their nature, are all at once emblematic of the disposable nature of pop music, and the limitless possibilities of human creativity.” While he may no longer be a “real” DJ, he still maintains that incessant hunger for finding the next big “Mashed-Up Choon.”
