The best year-end mega mashups of 2018

2018bestof

Ever since DJ Earworm created his landmark “United State of Pop” back in 2007, other DJs have been copying the formula, summing up the past year in pop music by cramming all the year’s top songs into one seamless song-length mega-mashup.

For a few years, Earworm’s competition was less than fierce. Simply put, nobody did it better, amply proved by the viral success of his 2009 “Blame It On The Pop” edition, which broke Earworm (and his brand of mega-mashing) to the masses.

But now it’s 2018, and YouTube is rife with contenders for the best “End of The Year Mega Mashup” crown. We’re not here to declare a victor though. We’ve narrowed it down to the best four. It’s up to you to decide which flavor is your favorite:

The first is by Taiwanese YouTuber (and recent LA transplant) AnDy Wu, who has made numerous appearances on the Bootie Top 10. “The Greatest Hope” is a 144-song, 10-minute opus, broken down into seven chapters. It’s truly epic!

The second one, of course, is by none other than the man who originated the concept, DJ Earworm. As in previous years, “United State of Pop 2018 (Turnin’ It Up)” mashes up the 25 biggest U.S. hits of 2018.

Our Italian friends, DJs From Mars, come through once again with their “Best of 2018 Rewind Megamashup,” which takes 40 tracks and condenses it all down into a bangin’ 4 minutes.

And last but not least, here’s the comprehensive, 13-minute “Nonstop Pop 2018” from Isosine
