Best of Bootie 2018 – the best mashups of the year!
For the first time in Bootie Mashup’s 15-year history, it wasn’t just two people compiling the best mashups of the year. Instead, founder Adrian A opened up the selection process to the entire Bootie Mashup team, and DJs ShyBoy, Lobsterdust, Tyme, and EN8 all stepped up to the plate, not only nominating the mashups they felt were the best of the year, but also the ones that got spun the most during their DJ sets in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York City.
We tried to focus on the big hits and artists of the year, but as always, there’s plenty of throwback material, as producers found new ways to mash up older songs (or even just songs from last year!) There are also some newer mashup producers represented, as the scene continues to reinvigorate itself with new blood, figuring out fresh ways to mash up old songs!
Adrian A took all of the suggestions, whittled them down, and then mixed it into one continuous 76-minute mixtape, meant to represent a night at a Bootie Mashup party — from the get-your-ass-on-the-floor tracks, to the hands-in-the-air bangers, to the drunken sing-alongs, to the kooky “OMG WTF” mashups, and finally, to the slow-jams at the end of the night.
