of SMASH-UP DERBY – the world’s only live mashup rock band

We’ve got another great lineup of mashup DJs for you this month, including ourselves – DJs ADRIAN & the MYSTERIOUS D. We’ll be spinning the absolute best in bastard pop for you all night, digging deep into our massive mashup collection from the past five years, mixing and matching every conceivable musical genre, era, and style into one big A.D.D. dance party!

Also — tune into to WFMU between 3pm and 6pm this Friday to get a taste of what you will hear at Bootie — Adrian and the Mysterious D will be guests of Billy Jam on his fantastic Put the Needle On the Record radio show!

Part of what makes BOOTIE unique is the MIDNIGHT MASHUP SHOW, where singers perform mashups sung live. This Friday, you’ll be treated to a rare New York performance by TRIXXIE CARR, along with Adrian Roberts, vocalists for SMASH-UP DERBY, the Bootie house band in San Francisco. As singers for “the world’s only mashup rock band,” these two know how to mash it up and make it look easy, and Trixxie is one of the most captivating singers you’ll ever see. … and Adrian & Trixxie together are a force to be reckoned with!

Joining the party this month will be New York City’s very own DJ RESET, who made history in America with the first commercially-released mashup ever, “Frontin’ on Debra” – a hybrid of Beck’s “Debra” and Pharrell Williams and Jay-Z’s “Frontin’.” Mixmag called his genre-busting style an “ass-kicker” and he’s opened for the Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Ja Rule, Chingy, Fabolous, The Prodigy, and others. He’s gonna be sure to rock the party!

Also spinning will be DJ LOBSTERDUST, also from New York City, and one of our favorite mashup producers. Born and raised in Israel, his innovative mashups mix indie, pop, dance, and hip-hop into a unique sonic collage, and have received significant airplay on radio stations around the globe, including Sirius, France’s Oui FM, and LA’s Indie 103.1.

Bootie’s crowd is as mashed up as it’s music, so anything goes. Bring whoever you want, and wear whatever you’re feeling that evening! Of course, being a club that plays pirated bootlegs, we always have a soft spot for pirate wear or skulls & crossbones. :-)

We’ve got a great lineup of mashup DJs for you this month, including ourselves – DJs ADRIAN & the MYSTERIOUS D – who will be spinning the absolute best in bastard pop for you all night.
This month, we’re happy to be bringing out our fellow DJ from San Francisco, the internationally-acclaimed PARTY BEN, who rose to mashup fame and prominence in 2004 with his ingenious Green Day vs. Oasis creation, “Boulevard of Broken Songs,” which received airplay on hundreds of radio stations around the globe. He is truly one of the best mashup producers in the world today.

Last but not least, we’ve got DJ LENLOW from MASH AVE, Boston’s premiere mashup bootleg night, and the first party of its kind on the East Coast.

Not only do we have a killer DJ lineup, but we also have THREE LIVE mashup singers for you this time!

There will be a performances every hour, on the hour – starting at midnight…

First up is Boston mashup chanteuse KATIE ENLOW, known in bootleg circles as the go-to vocalist for unofficial remixes and mashups. Later, she’ll be doing a mashup duet with ADRIAN ROBERTS, lead singer for Smash-Up Derby – the world’s only mashup rock band. And finally, all the way from London, England, we are proud to present British diva songstress HOLESTAR. This ‘cock-in-a-frock-without-the-cock’ will be singing her own distinct brand of bootleg mashups late in the night.

Bootie’s crowd is usually as mashed up as it’s music, so anything goes. Bring whoever you want, and wear whatever you’re feeling that evening! Of course, being a club that plays pirated bootlegs, we always have a soft spot for pirate wear or skulls & crossbones. :-)

All the info is here. And while you’re there, be sure to download our new Bootie Top 10, our monthly list of our favorite mashups.

Thanks to Shaw Promotion and Thomas Noe for helping us spread the word. We’re looking forward to Friday, and we hope to see you there! And don’t forget, get there early for those free exclusive Bootie NYC CDs!

Get ready New York … Bootie’s back and ready to destroy all genres and tear up the dance floor!

BOOTIE NYC returns on Friday, March 30th at Element!

Posted in BOOTIE NYC on March 15th, 2007 by Adrian

After the mashed-up insanity of last month’s first Bootie NYC party at Happy Ending, we are happy to announce that we’ll be back in New York in two weeks – only this time, it’s going to be at a larger venue with a bigger dance floor with killer lights and sound!

Many of you suggested a bigger place with a full dance floor, and when you guys talk, we listen!

On Friday, March 30th, we’re bringing Bootie back – yup! New York City’s only all-mashup bootleg party is coming to Element – the former Bank at the prime location at the crossroads of the East Village and the Lower East Side.

We’ve also got some great DJs and performers lined up for this next event. Besides ourselves, DJs Adrian & the Mysterious D, we’re bringing internationally-acclaimed mashup artist Party Ben with us from San Francisco, as well as Lenlow from Boston’s premiere bootleg night, Mash Ave. Also, we have mashup divas to sing live mashups for you! This next party will feature live mashup performances from London’s Holestar and Boston’s Katie Enlow – who will be singing with Smash-Up Derby‘s own Adrian Roberts, all belting it out for your enjoyment.

And of course, what would Bootie be without free mashup CDs! We’ll be giving out CDs to the first 100 people through the door … and maybe a few later in the night. ;-)

** RSVP for discount admission – only $5 before midnight with RSVP: rsvp@bootienyc.com **

We’ll be sending out all the details next week, but in the meantime, check out: BootieNYC.com
