Bootie Top 20 – March/April 2012

By now, you should know the drill – we got busy, we went to South By Southwest, we went to China, we already gave you a Whitney Houston Top 10, blah blah blah. Whatever. You get this whenever we get around to it, which this time just happens to be … right before we leave for a… three-week European Bootie tour! (Click here for info)

We will soon be doing a massive website re-design and overhaul this summer, which ultimately will mean … more mashups, more often AND with more consistency (like having a Top 10 come out on the 1st of every month)! But until then, we’ll just try and make our tardiness up to you with extra free mashups, like this month’s Top 20, which is what we’ve got right here…

A Plus D – Levels That I Used To Know (Gotye vs. Avicii) – San Francisco
If it’s good enough for Avicii to play in his own DJ sets, then it’s good enough for us … well, actually, that version wasn’t, which is why we made our own!

Dan Mei – Uprising Bodies (Taio Cruz vs. Drowning Pool vs. Muse vs. Moby vs. Stromae vs. Infernal vs. Sak Noel) – Denmark
One of our favorite previously unreleased tracks off the new “Mashup Culture Vol. 1” compilation album from The Mashup Radio.

DJs From Mars – Twist & Shout (Beatles Remix) – Torino, Italy
DJs From Mars – We Found Every Teardrop (Rihanna vs. Coldplay) – Torino, Italy
The first one has been Adrian’s DJ secret weapon for the past year, while the second is guaranteed dance floor epicness.

Elocnep – Smooth Gasolina (Pitbull vs. Michael Jackson vs. Lazertag) – France
Elocnep turned us on to this electro banger when he guest DJed at Bootie SF in February.

DJ Em-Tee – Dominos Feel So Close (Jessie J vs. Calvin Harris) – Sydney
Barely anyone knows who Jessie J is here in the States, but we’ll be ready for Bootie London with this track.

The Jane Doze – Young Hearts Wanna Beat On Their Own (Katy Perry vs. The Naked & Famous vs. Robyn vs. Whitney Houston vs. Ke$ha vs. – New York City
This NYC female mashup duo seem to be venturing into Titus Jones’ territory with this pop-tastic multi-mash.

Kap Slap – Breakin’ The Doors (Skrillex ft. The Doors vs. Zedd vs. Florence + The Machine vs. Afrojack & Aoki ft. Miss Palmer vs. Calvin Harris vs. Pitbull vs. Ne-Yo vs. Katy Perry) – Pennsylvania
We just found out that Kap Slap is a senior in high school. He can’t even get into a nightclub to drop this track!

King of Pants – Pumped Up Moonlight (Foster The People vs. King Harvest) – Seattle
King of Pants – Sweet Judas (Lady Gaga vs. Eurythmics) – Seattle
After a long lull after the end of his Seattle mashup night Frankenboot, King of Pants is back! Of course, being a resident DJ at Bootie Seattle probably helps!

DJ Magic Baron – The One That Got A Hangover (Taio Cruz vs. Katy Perry) – The Netherlands
Discovered this one while searching for tracks for Katy Perry Mashup Night at Bootie SF. Love the dueling “oh-oh-oh’s,” plus “Hangover” could pretty much be our theme song.

Mashup-Germany – Starships Dance Floor Porn (Nicki Minaj vs. Britney Spears vs. Safri Duo vs. Chris Brown vs. Example vs. Hurts vs. Lil Jon vs. Daft Punk) – Frankfurt, Germany
Pop throwing up on pop, with a healthy dollop of Eurodance. Another winner from Germany’s “most clicked mashup artist.”

Party Ben – Set Fire to True Faith (Adele vs. New Order) – San Francisco
Party Ben rarely makes mashups anymore, but when he does, it’s nice to know he can still produce tracks like this one.

Phil RetroSpector – Killing Kids (Echo & the Bunnymen vs. MGMT) – Ireland
Just when we thought we were sick of “Kids” mashups, along comes this, bringing two generations of college radio hits together.

Ryan Nellis – 4A (Skrillex vs. LMFAO vs. Outkast vs. Tag Team vs. Britney Spears vs. Katy Perry vs. Daft Punk vs. Van Halen vs. Fergie) – Buffalo, USA
DJ Italian Robot brought this track to our attention. We don’t generally care for dubstep, but we’ll make an exception for this.

ShyBoy – Born In The Deep (Rolling Slippy) (Adele vs. Underworld) – Los Angeles
ShyBoy sings this one himself, bringing a whole new feel to Adele’s extremely-played out “Rolling In The Deep.”

TBC aka Instamatic – Her Breath Is The Wind (Rhiannon’s Breath) (Sia vs. Fleetwood Mac) – London
This one has “late-night closing song” written all over it. Gorgeously epic.

DJ Tripp – We Are On Fire (Adele vs. Fun.) – Santa Cruz, California
Two #1 U.S. hits, rolled into one. We’ve been obsessed with Fun. (we even saw them at South By Southwest) and apparently we aren’t the only ones, since it’s been #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks now. This is probably our current favorite.

ViC – Hello Planes (Martin Solveig feat. Dragonette vs. M.I.A.) – Belgium
90 to 128 bpm in four minutes!

Wick-it the Instigator – Still California (Moombahton Remix) (Dr. Dre vs. Wick-it) – Nashville
We’re not much for bandwagon jumping, but we can get behind this moombahton trend, especially when it makes Dr. Dre sound like this!
